The Federal Council of the OAB is composed of elected representatives from the Order’s Seccionals in each state. Each Seccional elects a federal counselor to the Council, ensuring that all regions of Brazil have a voice in the management of the OAB. These federal counselors represent the interests of the lawyers from their respective states and participate in the decisions and policies of the OAB at the national level. Being honored by the Federal Council of the OAB is a significant recognition in the Brazilian legal community. The prestige of this honor comes from several important factors: Recognition of Contribution, Institutional Value, National Impact, and Example of Excellence.
Example of honoree: Desmond Tutu: South African Anglican archbishop and human rights activist, renowned for his role in the fight against apartheid and in defense of human rights.
