Brasília – “Defending the causes that the OAB has embraced is an obligation of every parliamentarian engaged in republican causes.” This statement was made by Deputy Bruno Araújo, leader of the PSDB in the Chamber of Deputies, while expressing gratitude, on behalf of the Parliamentary Front of Advocacy, for the tribute paid by the Order of Attorneys of Brazil (OAB) to several parliamentarians. On Monday evening, Araújo and other deputies received from the hands of the entity’s president, Ophir Cavalcante, a replica of the facade of the OAB National headquarters building, in recognition of the work done for justice, advocacy, and citizenship when defending important projects for the class, human dignity, and that brought greater balance to social relations.
“I am proud to be able, as a lawyer, to embrace causes of interest to the class and the OAB, in favor of society, in defense of the application of the Bar Exam and other important issues for Brazilian justice,” said Deputy Bruno Araújo. Other deputies honored by the OAB include Arnaldo Faria de Sá (PTB-SP), Fabio Trad (PMDB-MS), Ronaldo Caiado (DEM-GO), Rubens Bueno (PPS-PR), Jerônimo Goergen (PP-RS), Antonio Carlos Mendes Thame (PSDB-SP), and Nilson Leitão (PSDB-MT).
When granting the tribute, Ophir expressed his gratitude for the parliamentarians’ commitment and stated that the entity has always recognized the Chamber of Deputies as the legitimate forum for debating republican causes that are important for citizens and Brazilian democracy. “The symbolic gesture of handing over a replica of our entity to the deputies demonstrates that the OAB is integrated with Parliament in the sense of defending citizens through justice and democracy,” said the national president of the OAB.
